Charlie Woods, the 15-year-old son of golf legend Tiger Woods, has made headlines by climbing to a career-high rank of 38th in the ‘Class of 2027’ according to The Universal Golf Rankings (TUGR). This surge in rankings comes after Charlie’s impressive victory at Eagle Trace Golf Club, where he carded a 1-under 71, outplaying 74 competitors to secure a spot in next month’s US Junior Amateur at Oakland Hills.
This triumph marks a significant milestone for Charlie, as he will compete in his first-ever USGA tournament at the end of July. The win also sees him at the highest rank of his junior career across all categories in the TUGR Junior Rankings. TUGR highlighted his achievement on Twitter, noting, “Charlie Woods moves up to 38th in the Class of 2027 per TUGR Junior Rankings. After finishing 1st in his qualifier for the US Junior Am, he’s currently at the highest rank of his junior career in every category. Very much a D1 prospect and trending in the right direction.”

As Charlie prepares to follow in his father’s footsteps, he aims to win the prestigious US Junior Amateur Championship, a title Tiger Woods claimed three times between 1991 and 1993. The championship format includes two rounds of stroke play, with the top 64 players advancing to a match play stage. The winner will earn a coveted spot in the 2025 US Open at Oakmont.
Recently, Charlie lent his father a hand with his golf swing at the 2024 US Open at Pinehurst No.2. Despite their efforts, Tiger Woods, 48, missed the cut and is not expected to compete again until the 2024 Open Championship at Royal Troon in Scotland, scheduled for July 18-21. Earlier this week, Tiger Woods announced plans to debut on the PGA Tour Champions in 2026, with potential plans to use a golf cart at the 2026 US Senior Open, pending any rule changes by the USGA.
Currently, Charlie is competing in the 54-hole Press Thornton Future Masters at Dothan Country Club in Alabama, participating in the 15-18 category against 232 players. He opened with a 3-over 73, and the event’s action is being broadcast on WTVY.
