“Scenes as a horror movie” – this is how “The Sun” describes the events of the tennis tournament in Brazzaville (Congo). Dutchman Guy den Ouden faced Russian Ivan Denisov. The latter was supposed to serve when suddenly the tennis players heard shots.
As reported by The Sun, there were riots on the street next to the courts. A group of people gathered, and then there were shots and screams. The crowd quickly dispersed when tear gas was used.

The game was paused for about ten minutes, after which it resumed. The Challenger Tour initially did not comment on the matter, but eventually posted a statement on X.
“We can confirm that the competition at Brazzaville Challenger Stadium in the Republic of Congo has been temporarily suspended today due to routine exercises led by a nearby police academy. The break lasted about 10 minutes, after which the game resumed without any interference” – reads the ATP Challenger Tour profile.
