Davis Riley secured a commanding victory at the Charles Schwab Challenge, finishing with a five-shot lead at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas. Despite an even-par 70 in his final round, Riley clinched his second career win and first solo win on the PGA Tour.
Riley started the final round with a four-shot lead, which had been narrowed by Scottie Scheffler’s impressive performance on Saturday. Scheffler, the world’s top-ranked golfer, posted a 63 to reach 10-under but faltered on Sunday with two early bogeys and a 1-over 71, finishing at 9-under.
In contrast, Riley managed his game well despite two early bogeys. A birdie putt on the 9th hole expanded his lead to six shots as he entered the back nine. Maintaining his composure, Riley held steady to finish at 14-under, securing the win. This victory propelled him to No. 55 in the FedExCup standings and guaranteed his participation in the remaining signature events of the season.
Keegan Bradley moved into a tie for second place with Scheffler after a 3-under 67 on Sunday. Maverick McNealy recorded the best round of the day with a 4-under, leaping 41 spots to T17. Collin Morikawa finished fourth at 8-under.
