Djokovic Shares Joy of Playful Moments with Kids

Novak Djokovic recently opened up emotionally about the cherished moments spent with his nine-year-old son, Stefan, and six-year-old daughter, Tara. Following his loss to Jannik Sinner in the semifinals of the Australian Open 2024 on January 26, Djokovic shared insights into his Australia trip, which marked his first defeat at the tournament since 2018 and his initial loss at the semifinal stage.

Arriving in Perth on December 28, 2023, for Serbia’s United Cup 2024 campaign, Djokovic led the national side until they faced defeat against Australia in the quarterfinals. Notably, during his nearly month-long stay in the continental country, Djokovic was without the company of his parents, wife, or children.

During an interview on The Today Show with Karl Stefanovic, Djokovic revealed the challenges of being away from his kids, stating, “Not really, to be honest, I do struggle with that more and more as the time goes on. Australia is a long trip, probably the longest one that we have in the entire year. My son is nine, my daughter is six, every day, every week they change.”

Stefanovic then shared videos with Djokovic, capturing playful moments of the tennis star pranking his kids. Overwhelmed by the memories, Djokovic expressed the joy of playing with his children, saying, “Dads should play with their children all the time. I mean that’s like my favorite part of the day just when I have their attention and when they have my attention and we are fully present, we play and we invent stuff. It’s the best. I’m getting emotional right now, I miss them, I’ll see them in a few days.” The heartfelt revelation showcased the importance Djokovic places on the quality time spent with his family.
