Donald Trump’s New Scottish Golf Course to Open in 2025: Promises “Greatest 36 Holes in Golf”
Former U.S. President Donald Trump’s newest venture in the world of golf is set to make waves in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, as his second championship course is slated to open next summer. Trump International has announced that this addition will complement the existing course and collectively offer what they claim to be “the greatest 36 holes in golf.”
The new championship links are being built at Trump International Golf Links, near Balmedie, a world-renowned golf destination that has already attracted global attention for its challenging design and breathtaking views of the Scottish coastline. Trump and his son, Eric, officially broke ground on the project last spring.
A Focus on Sustainability and the Environment
What sets this new course apart, according to Trump International, is its commitment to sustainability. The developers are boasting that the new links will be “one of the most environmentally-friendly and sustainable courses ever built,” with stunning panoramic views of the North Sea.
In their efforts to protect and enhance the local environment, over 10 hectares of native vegetation have been carefully translocated across the largest sand dunes in Scotland. This has allowed indigenous plant species to thrive and expand. In addition, one million sprigs of native marram grass—a plant crucial for stabilizing dunes—have been planted across the site. The course has also seen the harvesting of six tonnes of marram seeds.
Designed to Accompany a World-Ranked Course
The new links will serve as an extension to the existing world-ranked championship course, adding a unique dimension to what is already considered a golfer’s paradise. This pairing of courses aims to attract even more international golf enthusiasts to Aberdeenshire, solidifying Trump International’s reputation as a premier destination for the sport.
The course’s opening next summer is highly anticipated by the golf community, and with its promises of sustainability and world-class design, it’s poised to become one of the most talked-about golf destinations in the world.
As Trump continues to invest in high-end golf resorts, the Aberdeenshire project reinforces his commitment to developing iconic courses in stunning natural settings. Only time will tell if the new addition will live up to the hype of being part of “the greatest 36 holes in golf.”
