The world today is rife with stressors, from the daily grind of paying bills and managing family responsibilities to the overwhelming influence of social media. Throw in the heightened tensions of an election year, and it’s no wonder people seek outlets for their stress. Unfortunately, not all coping mechanisms are constructive, as evidenced by the recent incident involving Spokane resident Jamey A. Christie.
Early Monday morning, police responded to a disturbance at Wandermere Golf Course, where they found 55-year-old Christie in a disheveled and intoxicated state. The Spokane County Sheriff’s office reported that Christie was discovered pants-less, heavily intoxicated, and surrounded by broken glass. He had broken into the golf course, causing significant damage.
According to authorities, Christie had shattered multiple windows, resulting in an estimated $5,000 in damages. A golf course employee also discovered two empty whiskey bottles, which Christie had stolen and consumed. This incident wasn’t his first trespass at the location; he had previously been caught on the property in March.
After receiving medical treatment, Christie is set to face charges of burglary, malicious mischief, and theft. While the exact cause of his breakdown remains unclear, one might speculate he was merely seeking an escape from his troubles, albeit in a highly destructive manner.
