Erica Stoll was seen supporting her husband, Rory McIlroy, at the Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club on Thursday. This public appearance comes just weeks after the couple announced they had called off their planned divorce.
The golfing world was taken by surprise in May when news broke that McIlroy and Stoll were ending their marriage after seven years. Their legal papers described their relationship as “broken.” However, in a dramatic turn of events, McIlroy announced ahead of the US Open that he and Stoll had reconciled and would remain married.
McIlroy addressed the rumors about his personal life in a statement to The Guardian: “There have been rumours about my personal life recently, which is unfortunate. Responding to each rumour is a fool’s game. Over the past weeks, Erica and I have realized that our best future was as a family together. Thankfully, we have resolved our differences and look forward to a new beginning.”
Just four weeks after this announcement, Stoll was by McIlroy’s side as he competed in the Scottish Open. McIlroy had a strong start, shooting a five-under-par 65, leaving him just one shot off the lead. Stoll was seen closely following her husband around the North Berwick course, signaling that their relationship is back on track. McIlroy was also seen wearing his wedding ring again, which he had previously stopped wearing in June.
