On Oct 7, the 34-year-old billionaire singer-songwriter was photographed attending an American football match between Kansas City Chiefs and New Orleans Saints at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. Swift’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce, plays for the Chiefs.
And the glitter freckles Swift put on her face for her game day look sold out soon after.
Sales of a make-up patch from small American beauty brand Fazit Beauty – which gives users the appearance of having glittery freckles – skyrocketed by 2,500 per cent less than a day after Swift was spotted wearing them.
Fazit Beauty co-founder Aliett Buttelman, a former model, told American tabloid TMZ that her team was working around the clock to keep up with the demand. She said to fashion trade journal Women’s Wear Daily that “every retailer” was reaching out to the brand, which was started in 2022.
Ms Buttelman posted a TikTok video set to Swift’s song Bejeweled (2022). The clip showed orders coming in at high speed, and piles of boxes of Fazit Beauty products getting ready to be shipped out.
In another video, she was seen sobbing and wiping away happy tears, with the caption: “You’re a small business’ female founder and Taylor Swift is wearing your brand, Fazit’s glitter freckles.”
Ms Buttelman told TMZ that she had been trying to get the freckle make-up patches to Swift since the product was launched earlier in 2024. She thought the glittery look of the patches aligned with many of Swift’s sparkly costumes on her record-breaking The Eras Tour, which is scheduled to end on Dec 8.
This is not the first time Swift has sparked a buying frenzy. In October 2023, she wore a pair of embellished denim shorts by American brand Area to another Kansas City Chiefs game. The shorts sold out on Farfetch, Mode Sens and other shopping platforms after that.
Singaporean bag label Aupen also became an “It bag” that same month after Swift was spotted carrying its Nirvana bag while on a date with Kelce.
