United States captain Jim Furyk completed his Presidents Cup roster on Tuesday, selecting his final wildcard picks based on team rankings.
Keegan Bradley, who earned his spot with an impressive performance, was one of Furyk’s choices for the squad that will compete in Montreal later this month. Six positions were available, and Furyk filled them by choosing players from the points standings. The final members of the USA team are Sam Burns, Tony Finau, Russell Henley, Keegan Bradley, Brian Harman, and Max Homa, all of whom ranked 7th to 12th on the points table.
Bradley, who is set to captain the USA team at the Ryder Cup next year, had already been slated to participate in the September 26-29 Presidents Cup in Montreal as an assistant captain. However, his strong finish to the season—highlighted by a victory at the BMW Championship in Colorado and a 21st-place finish at the Tour Championship—secured his place on the team.
“When I named Keegan as a captain’s assistant for the Presidents Cup, I knew there was a chance he would play his way onto the US team, and I can say without a doubt he did just that,” said Furyk. He praised Bradley’s recent form, noting it demonstrated “the competitive nature he has.” Furyk added, “I know he will bring that same fire to Royal Montreal in a few weeks.”
Despite a dip in form that saw him make only one top-10 finish since April’s Masters, Furyk had little hesitation in choosing 12th-ranked Max Homa. Furyk highlighted Homa’s performance in the 2022 Presidents Cup and 2023 Ryder Cup as key factors in his selection.
“Max plays his best on the biggest stages,” Furyk said. “He was an emotional leader for both teams and someone who rallied the 11 players around him time and again. I can’t wait to have him represent the US again in Montreal.”
The United States will be aiming to extend their two-decade-long unbeaten streak in this year’s Presidents Cup, having not lost the team event since the 1998 edition in Melbourne.
