American sprinter Gabby Thomas recently reflected on her future after her outstanding performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where she emerged as the USA’s most successful track and field athlete. Thomas, competing in her second Olympic Games, secured three gold medals, winning the individual 200m and playing pivotal roles in the USA women’s 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams.
In the 4x400m relay, Thomas, alongside Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, Shamier Little, and Alexis Holmes, set an American record with a time of 3:15.27, narrowly missing the world record by just 0.10 seconds. Following her incredible achievements, Thomas appeared on NBC’s TODAY show, where she was asked about her plans moving forward, including how she would spend her time and what she might indulge in after maintaining a strict diet during her training. She candidly admitted, “Yeah, it’s a little bit weird. I’m not sure what I’m going to do with my time now and what I’m going to eat.” She did express her excitement about finally getting to enjoy pizza, saying, “It’s all so much at once, but I’m really excited to have a pizza.”
Thomas had been highly disciplined in the lead-up to the Paris Olympics, even skipping social events to stay focused on her goals, as she mentioned in an Instagram post celebrating her victories. Beyond her athletic career, she has also been committed to her education, having earned a master’s degree in public health with a specialization in epidemiology.
Looking ahead, Thomas shared her aspirations beyond the track on NBC’s TODAY Show. She expressed a strong desire to give back to her community once her track and field career concludes. “When my track career is over, I would love to continue to give back to my community. My mom always instilled that the most important thing is to be a member of society that gives back, and so I’d love to run my own nonprofit and stay in the healthcare space and give back to the community and people who don’t have access to healthcare,” she said.
Thomas has already been actively involved in community service, working at a local health clinic in Austin, Texas, where she currently resides when she is not training.
