Golf fans blast PGA Tour ‘clown show’ at RBC Heritage

The RBC Heritage at Harbour Town Golf Links left a sour taste for many PGA Tour fans as the event was pushed into a Monday finish due to weather delays.

Play came to a halt on Sunday afternoon at 4:28 pm due to the looming threat of lightning, leading to a delay of two-and-a-half hours before players returned to the course. Despite their efforts, completing the tournament on Sunday became an impossible feat.

Fans took to social media to voice their displeasure, questioning why tee times weren’t adjusted earlier in anticipation of the forecasted weather conditions.

“You guys make it so hard to watch your product,” lamented one user, directly addressing the PGA Tour communication account.

Another frustrated fan expressed a sentiment shared by many, wishing the situation could have been avoided altogether.

Criticism also came in regarding the management of the PGA Tour, with one user labeling the day as “embarrassing” for the organization. They suggested that moving up tee times could have allowed for the completion of the event before the onset of rain, highlighting the inconvenience faced by players, many of whom were eager to head home after a grueling week following a major tournament.

As play stretched into the evening, world number one Scottie Scheffler found himself leading by five strokes at 20-under, with his final round halted at the 16th hole.

Scheffler’s resilience was on display as he navigated challenging conditions, including an incredible up-and-down on the 15th hole to salvage par after finding the water with his second shot. His determination to compete, despite fatigue from winning the Masters the previous week, underscored his pursuit of a fourth victory in five starts.
