PGA Tour stars Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler are set to face LIV Golf’s Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka in a televised match later this year, according to recent reports.
This highly anticipated showdown between four of golf’s biggest names comes as the PGA Tour and Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), the financial backer of LIV Golf, continue negotiations on a potential merger.
Discussions between the PGA Tour and the PIF have been ongoing for over a year, aimed at resolving the division within the sport.
Details of the all-star match were revealed by Golfweek on Wednesday, with Northern Ireland’s McIlroy confirming the news.
“I’m excited to team up with Scottie for what promises to be a thrilling duel against Bryson and Brooks in Vegas this December,” McIlroy told Golfweek.
“This match isn’t just about some of golf’s major champions competing against each other—it’s about creating an event that energizes the fans.”
“We’re all here to put on a great show and contribute to a goodwill event that brings together the best in the game once again.”
Masters champion Scheffler and McIlroy currently hold the first and third spots in the world rankings, while American duo DeChambeau and Koepka boast seven major titles between them.
