The 35-year-old PGA Tour star has filed for divorce from Erica Stoll, 36, after seven years of marriage. This news emerged just 24 hours after he secured a victory at the Wells Fargo Championship in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Court documents reveal that the golfer had a police officer, Carl Woods of the Palm Beach police department, deliver the divorce papers to Stoll at their $22 million home in Jupiter, Florida. Woods, who also operates a process serving business, presented the documents to Stoll on May 13 at 10:30 AM ET.
The divorce summons describe Stoll as a white woman in her 30s, with blonde hair, thin build, and a height between 5-foot-7 and 5-foot-8. The golfer signed the divorce papers digitally on May 9, during the Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow, which he won by defeating Xander Schauffele by five shots.
Stoll has 20 days from the date of service to file a written response to the divorce petition with the circuit court clerk. The summons emphasized the importance of a written response, warning that failure to do so could result in a default judgment, potentially affecting her wages, money, and property. Legal advice was recommended.
As of May 29, Stoll had not yet responded to the petition. The documents, filed in Palm Beach County, state that the marriage was “irretrievably broken.” Stoll was photographed by the Daily Mail on May 23, filling her car with gas in Jupiter, Florida.
The divorce petition indicates that the couple had a prenuptial agreement, though its specifics remain undisclosed. The golfer’s attorney is Thomas Sasser, known for representing Tiger Woods during his 2010 divorce. The filing calls for shared custody and a parenting plan for their three-year-old daughter, Poppy.
The couple married in 2017 and welcomed Poppy in 2020. The golfer, whose PGA Tour earnings approach $87 million, first met Stoll during the 2012 Ryder Cup at Medinah, Illinois, where she was working for the PGA of America. He credits Stoll with helping him make his tee time that year after he missed his alarm, a moment that contributed to the “miracle at Medinah.” Their relationship began a few years after this initial meeting.
