Jacoby Brissett is expressing strong confidence in the New England Patriots’ offensive line, despite the criticism they’ve faced this offseason. Brissett, who is set to start in Week 1 against the Cincinnati Bengals, addressed concerns about the o-line on Wednesday.
He acknowledged the doubts surrounding the unit but emphasized the importance of executing on the field. “That’s the cool part about this league and this game: Everyone can have their questions, but we still have to go out and perform,” Brissett said. “I’m very confident in our plan and in how the offensive line will protect the quarterback, support the running game, and help push the ball down the field.”
Brissett remains upbeat about the offensive line’s potential to address their critics. Despite a challenging preseason, where the line struggled with penalties and allowed a sack that injured Brissett, he believes the group is focused and ready. Concerns are particularly high about the left tackle position, with offseason addition Chukwuma Okorafor starting there despite his prior experience at right tackle. Injuries have also impacted the line, with Vedarian Lowe and Sidy Sow both facing setbacks.
As the Patriots prepare for their season opener, Brissett’s optimism may be tested in their matchup against the Bengals. The game kicks off at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday at Paycor Stadium.
