Recently, Joaquin Niemann shared a touching story about assisting his father with his golf swing, marking a rare moment when his dad, Jorge Niemann, heeded his advice. The 25-year-old Chilean golfer, known for his two-time victories on the LIV Golf circuit, revealed this anecdote in a reel posted on Instagram by his team, Torque GC, on Thursday, June 27.
Niemann comes from a family of athletes. His mother, Pamela, played for Chile’s national hockey team, and his father, Jorge, has a background in basketball. Despite their diverse sports experiences, this time the focus was on golf, a sport in which Niemann excels. Observing his father struggling on the practice range, Niemann decided to offer some tips. “I was watching my dad hitting balls on the range, and he wasn’t doing great,” Niemann said. “There wasn’t much I could tell him, but I gave him a few pieces of advice. He was aiming too far right and swinging over the top. I suggested he aim a little farther left and take the club a bit more outside.”
Joaquin was particularly proud of his father for taking his advice, a rare occurrence. “He’s not a good listener, but for the first time, he listened to me and hit a nice, beautiful draw on the first try. I’m proud of that,” Niemann added.
