Jordan Spieth, the three-time Major winner, recently confirmed on social media that he has undergone surgery on his left wrist, a problem that had troubled him for over 15 months. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Spieth shared an update on his condition, stating, “I had a procedure on my left wrist last week, as I had mentioned was the plan. The operation went smoothly, and I’m grateful for the exceptional medical team and the support of Annie and my family.”
Spieth’s season in the FedEx Cup Playoffs ended after the first tournament with a T68 finish at the FedEx St. Jude Championship. While this marked an early exit, it allowed him to address his wrist issue sooner than expected. With the Tour Championship concluding the playoffs this week, Spieth opted to have the surgery before the end of August.
The surgery aims to resolve a long-standing issue that had been bothering Spieth since just before the 2023 PGA Championship at Oak Hill. Before the Wyndham Championship earlier this month, Spieth acknowledged that surgery had been “probably needed for a long-standing problem.” He admitted that while his wrist wasn’t causing him pain, the issue had been affecting his performance subconsciously.
“I’ve been taking trips and consulting with numerous doctors, getting it scanned again, and trying to figure out the next step,” Spieth explained. “It’s likely something that needed to be addressed this offseason. I’m going to move forward confidently, trusting that I’ll be able to get it fixed. I know many golfers have faced similar challenges and come back stronger.”
Now focused on rest and rehabilitation, Spieth is determined to return to the sport fully fit for the 2025 season. He concluded his update with optimism, writing, “Focused on rest and rehab, and I look forward to returning to golf healthy and prepared for 2025!”
