Michael Jordan, known for his legendary NBA career and competitive spirit, is a devoted fan of the Ryder Cup. He has attended every Ryder Cup event since his playing days, with the sole exception of the one held at Marco Simone. Jordan’s close friendship with Keegan Bradley, recently appointed as Ryder Cup captain, has fueled rumors about his potential involvement in an official capacity at the next Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black. However, Bradley dispelled these rumors in a recent interview.
“He’s not going to be a vice captain,” Bradley clarified. “Michael is always there for me, offering advice on golf, life, and the Ryder Cup. He’s one of my best friends, and I’ll certainly tap into his knowledge. But he attends the Ryder Cup as a spectator.”
While some may find this disappointing, given Jordan’s legendary competitive drive, his unofficial role still holds significant value. The thought of MJ inspiring and motivating the team, even from the sidelines, is compelling. Bradley emphasized Jordan’s passion and the motivation he brings to the table.
“He’s passionate, he’ll be pissed if we lose,” Bradley said.
The prospect of disappointing Michael Jordan might just be the extra push Team USA needs to secure a victory over Team Europe next fall.
