Keegan Bradley stole the spotlight at the Presidents Cup, clinching the winning point for Team USA, and an emotional Bradley reflected on the victory after the event.
Following his decisive performance, Bradley is already looking ahead to the 2025 Ryder Cup, drawing inspiration from Jim Furyk’s leadership. Having served as an assistant captain under Furyk, Bradley hopes to replicate that success when he captains the U.S. team at Bethpage.
Bradley secured the winning point on Sunday, capping off a stellar final round that saw Team USA defeat the International Team 18.5-11.5, marking their tenth consecutive victory in the event.
The year 2023 has been remarkable for Bradley. He was named Team USA Ryder Cup captain in July and made a triumphant return to the Presidents Cup after a ten-year absence. Bradley expressed his admiration for Furyk in an interview, acknowledging the leadership style that helped guide the U.S. to victory.
“We’re going to adopt a lot of what Jim Furyk did this week,” Bradley told NBC Sports. “He established a great culture, and we’ll carry that over to Bethpage. I hope many of these 12 players are part of that team.”
After sinking the decisive putt, following a miss from Si Woo Kim, Bradley took a moment to compose himself before expressing how much the victory meant to him, especially as it might be his final appearance as a player for Team USA.
“That was incredible,” Bradley said. “I kept telling myself all week, ‘I didn’t know if I’d ever get to do this again,’ and to win the point, it’s just unbelievable. The last time I played, I was the one to lose the Ryder Cup point. If this is my last match as a player, I’m at peace with it.”
Bradley went on to reflect on the camaraderie within the team. “I missed being around the guys. They’re amazing, and the bond between the players, the caddies, and even the wives is something special. I’m just so proud of the team and grateful to be here.”
He also noted the pressure of the moment and how much he learned about himself. “I learned that I can still do this. It’s always tough, especially at the end, but I’m proud of how everyone played today.”
Celebrating alongside Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa, Wyndham Clark, Patrick Cantlay, Sahith Theegala, Sam Burns, Tony Finau, Brian Harman, Russell Henley, and Max Homa, Bradley cherished the victory and hinted at wanting to carry the same team spirit into the next Ryder Cup, even if he’s not playing.
