Tiger Woods’ recent performances at the 2024 Masters and PGA Championship have led some golf fans, analysts, and pundits to declare that he is finished and unlikely to contend for another major championship. Despite missing the cut at Valhalla earlier this month, Woods remains resolute, asserting that he can still win but needs more competitive play to regain his form.
To prepare for the remaining majors, the 15-time major champion believes he must participate in regular Tour events to achieve optimal shape. With a special invitation from the USGA, Woods is set to compete in next month’s U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2, scheduled for June 13-16.
In the lead-up to the U.S. Open, Woods is considering participating in other events. He appears to have chosen to play in the Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village. The field for the 2024 Memorial will be confirmed on May 26. Due to its ‘signature’ status for the 2024 season, Woods needs an exemption to compete. Woods last won the Memorial in 2012, with previous victories in 2009, 2001, 2000, and 1999.
