**Ian Poulter Reflects on His Transition to LIV Golf: A Few Misses but Plenty of Gains**
Ian Poulter, co-captain of the Majesticks, has spent the last two years as part of the LIV Golf League and couldn’t be happier with his decision to leave the PGA Tour and DP World Tour. The 48-year-old English golfer has not only enjoyed the financial rewards but has also rekindled his passion for playing golf globally, thanks to the more flexible schedule offered by LIV Golf.
Although victories have been elusive for Poulter and his Majesticks team, who have yet to secure a win, Poulter remains enthusiastic about his time with the Saudi-backed circuit. In a candid interview with *Golf Monthly* during the International Series England—one of the ten elevated events on the Asian Tour that offers a route to the LIV Golf League—Poulter reflected on his career shift. He admitted there’s not much he misses from his days on the DP World Tour and PGA Tour, except for one thing.
“What do I miss about the DP World Tour and PGA Tour? Well, there’s not a lot I miss because, you know, I’m doing the same thing I was doing on LIV. The format change is different, obviously,” Poulter shared. “I do miss some friends. The guys you would have seen for 20 weeks a year, which obviously you don’t really see anymore. So that’s probably the only thing I would say I miss.”
Poulter’s professional career, which began in 1995, initially involved extensive travel for DP World Tour events across Asia, Africa, and Europe, allowing him and his peers to explore new places and showcase their golfing skills around the world. However, as his involvement with the PGA Tour increased, his international travel diminished.
Now with LIV Golf, which includes eight tournaments outside of the U.S. within its 14-event schedule, Poulter is thrilled to be back on the road, enjoying the international aspect of the game once again. He remarked, “While I was a global player back when I was part of the PGA Tour before LIV, I played in Japan, Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Korea, and all of these global international destinations. We’re doing exactly the same thing with LIV.”
For Poulter, the ability to travel and bring golf to different corners of the globe has always been a highlight of his career. He is particularly pleased that LIV Golf allows him to continue doing so. “I think, for me, certainly the travel aspect is something I’ve always embraced. The fun thing for me at LIV is we’re doing exactly the same thing. I enjoy taking the game of golf and the LIV product to these destinations, which, for somewhat of the last five years beforehand, we probably did slightly less travel. And that’s one of the massive pluses for me, with all of the guys, is being able to take this great game to the rest of the world.”
