Franciszek Izbicki won the third medal for Poland during the Winter Olympic Festival of Youth in Bakuriani, Georgia. Our representative won silver in the short track at a distance of 500 meters.
In the final race of merctors on the short track, the best turned out to be the Italian Filippo Pezzoni, who reached for silver for 1500 meters the day before. He reached the finish line with a time of 43.420.
A little over two hundredths of a second to the winner was lost by 16-year-old Franciszek Izbicki. The Pole would probably reach for gold, but he fell during the race. In the end, he finished with a time of 4,433 and had to recognize the superiority of his rival from Italy.
On the lowest step of the podium stood the Hungarian representative Mihala Arendas (43.555). Another Pole, Oskar Soltau, participated in the competition. He eventually finished in 19th position.
Izbicki won his third medal for Poland at the Winter Youth Festival in Bakuriani. Earlier, Grzegorz Galica won the gold medal in the biathlon individual race at 12.5 km, and Daria Daszuta reached for silver in the 1500 meters short track. The event was launched on February 9.
