Over the weekend, numerous jokes circulated about Scottie Scheffler getting arrested before the second round of the PGA Championship, but Max Homa’s quip may have topped them all.
Homa competed at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky, and although he played fairly well, his 8-under finish only secured him a tie for 35th place. He ended up five shots behind Scheffler, who remarkably managed to achieve another top-10 finish despite his pre-round ordeal on Friday.
Following his final round on Sunday, Homa posted some photos from the PGA Championship on Instagram with a humorous caption.
“Frustrating week in KY. Lost to a guy who was literally in jail Friday morning. Tough look for me. The journey continues in Fort Worth next week,” Homa wrote.
Homa is well-known for his sharp wit, and this was certainly some of his best work.
As for Scheffler, he was arrested over what he describes as a misunderstanding that resulted in a police officer being injured. He is scheduled for arraignment at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, although it seems likely he may avoid any significant consequences.
