“Nadal Eager to Return to Monte Carlo Masters After Injury Layoff”

Posted on February 21, 2024

David Massey, the Chief Executive Officer of the Monte Carlo Rolex Masters, has confirmed that Rafael Nadal, the legendary tennis star from Spain, is keen to participate in the upcoming competition.

After spending nearly a year on the sidelines due to a knee injury, the 37-year-old Nadal recently made his return to the court. However, his comeback was marred by setbacks, including a withdrawal from the Australian Open due to a niggle suffered during the Brisbane International.

Massey revealed in a recent report that Nadal’s team has reaffirmed the player’s desire to compete in the prestigious event. “I spoke to his team and they confirmed that he wants to play in Monte Carlo after participating in Indian Wells,” Massey stated. “We keep our fingers crossed for his health, but we hope and trust that he will be able to come. He has already won the tournament 11 times and could be looking for a twelfth triumph.”

Nadal, widely regarded as one of the greatest players in men’s singles tennis history in the Open era, boasts an impressive tally of 22 Grand Slam titles. His dominance extends to the Monte Carlo Masters, where he has clinched the title a record 11 times. His most recent victory at the event came in 2017, when he defeated Albert Ramos-Vinolas in the final with a commanding scoreline of 6-1, 6-3.
