Naomi Osaka faced a traveler’s worst nightmare when she landed in Cincinnati, only to discover that her airline had misplaced her luggage. The incident threatened to derail the four-time Grand Slam champion’s participation in an upcoming tournament.
Fortunately, the crisis was resolved when United Airlines successfully located her bags.
The 26-year-old Japanese tennis star shared her frustration on X, formerly known as Twitter, saying, “Lol @united lost my bags and if I don’t get them tonight or tomorrow I literally can’t play (in the Cincinnati Open).” Osaka is competing in the WTA 1000 Cincinnati Open as part of her preparation for the US Open.
United Airlines quickly responded to her post, assuring her they would help. Just over two hours later, the airline confirmed that the missing luggage had been found. “Please send us a DM so we can finalise the plan to reunite you with your baggage,” they wrote.
The draw for the Cincinnati Open is set to take place today, ensuring Osaka’s participation remains on track.
