World No. 1 Nelly Korda showed resilience at the U.S. Women’s Open, significantly improving her performance in the second round. After a challenging first round, Korda managed to shave 10 strokes off her score with a second-round 70. Unfortunately, this effort was not enough to secure her a place for the weekend. Korda finished the tournament at 10 over par, just two shots shy of the cut line.
“Tried to give it my all,” Korda reflected. “That’s what I do with every round. I had nothing to lose, so that was kind of like the mentality. Just go for it.” This missed cut marked the first time in nearly a year that Korda failed to make it to the weekend on tour.
The cut line was set at 8 over par, with 75 players advancing. Only four competitors managed to finish the first two rounds under par, led by Thailand’s Wichanee Meechai at 4 under.
