After the rebound of a few balls on the warm-up (before the match against Iga Świątek), Caroline Garcia turned to the arbiter. The French tennis player pointed out that something is wrong with her rackets.
On Friday (21 March), Iga Świątek joined the Miami Open. In the first round, the Polish player received a free ticket. In the second vice-leader of the WTA ranking, she found herself a well-known Frenchwoman, Carolina Garcia.
Before the meeting began, there was an unusual situation. Both tennis players went out for the warm-up, but after the rebound of a few Garcia balls, she stopped the game and approached the referee, to whom she gave some comments.

The point was that the strikes on the French women’s rockets were badly stretched, so she gave them back to the call. – I admit honestly that I have never seen such a situation – said Bartosz Ignacik, commenting on Canal+ Sport.
“The point was Garcia playing with two different tricks. The Lord who prepared her rockets confused vertical tensions with the horizontal ones. She realized that something was wrong and quickly handed over the missiles to re-draw,” said Paul Kania-Choduń.
“These things at such a tournament should not happen absolutely, such a thing I could observe low-ranking tournaments in Turkey or Tunisia, where there were even theft of strings,” the tennis player said.
At 4-1 for Christmas, Garcia asked the judge what about her rockets (the 31-year-old until then played rockets with a different tension). The referee asked the right person to say that the tennis player expects at least one racket with the right tension as soon as possible.
“This is unbelievable,” Ignacik said. In the end, Garcia received rockets just before the eighth game.
I’m sure this whole thing didn’t help Garcia get into the game. The first four games of the first set fell to the spoil of Christmas, and the whole set ended with the victory of the Polish woman 6:2.
