**Sensational Wins at U.S. Open: Pegula, Muchova, and Draper Soar into Quarterfinals**
In a dominating display at the U.S. Open on Monday, Jessica Pegula, Karolina Muchova, and Jack Draper cruised into the quarterfinals with commanding straight-set victories at Flushing Meadows.
On Labor Day, American star Jessica Pegula delivered another efficient performance, defeating Russia’s Diana Shnaider 6-4, 6-2. With this win, Pegula advances to a much-anticipated quarterfinal clash against either top seed Iga Swiatek or Liudmila Samsonova, who are set to play later in the day. Pegula, who recently won a U.S. Open warm-up event in Canada, expressed confidence in her game as the tournament’s second week begins. “Today was the best I’ve felt off the ground,” she said. “I want to keep working and bringing my best tennis for the later rounds. There’s always a lot of pressure here, but I like it. It’s nice being an American here and getting all the support.”
Karolina Muchova, who, like Pegula, has not lost a set in the tournament, secured a convincing 6-3, 6-3 victory over Italy’s Jasmine Paolini. The unseeded Czech player, returning strong after wrist surgery that kept her out for 10 months, will face either Brazil’s Beatriz Haddad Maia or veteran Caroline Wozniacki in the quarterfinals.
In men’s action, Jack Draper of Great Britain powered through with a dominant 6-3, 6-1, 6-2 win over Tomas Machac of the Czech Republic. Draper, who has impressively won all 12 sets he’s played at Flushing Meadows this year, has now reached the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam for the first time. He awaits the winner of an all-Australian showdown between Alex de Minaur and Jordan Thompson.
