Overview
At the Paris 2024 Olympics, both the men’s and women’s golf events will feature 120 players from 32 nations, competing over four days in individual stroke play. With 60 golfers per tournament, there will be no halfway cut at Le Golf National, allowing each athlete to fully experience the Olympics and retain a chance to win a medal.
## Qualification Process
The fields for both tournaments were set in June, after the conclusion of the Olympic Golf Ranking qualification period. Players had around two years to accumulate points to secure a spot on their national teams. The Olympic Golf Rankings were finalized based on the average points tally per athlete.
The top-15 in the Official World Golf Ranking were exempt from the Olympic Golf Rankings, with a maximum of four golfers per country allowed from this category. After the top 15, the Olympic Golf Rankings included up to the top two eligible players per country, provided the country did not already have two players in the top 15.
## Men’s Tournament
As a result, only four of the nine American men in the world’s top-15 were eligible to represent the USA in Paris. Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, Wyndham Clark, and Collin Morikawa will compete for the USA, while Patrick Cantlay, Bryson DeChambeau, Brian Harman, Sahith Theegala, and Max Homa did not make the cut.
