Former PGA Tour winner Arron Oberhalser has launched a scathing attack on Jon Rahm, expressing his fury over Rahm’s recent comments ahead of the PGA Championship. Rahm, who is aiming for a career Grand Slam, has been serving a ban from the PGA Tour after signing a lucrative deal with LIV Golf, the controversial breakaway tour funded by Saudi Arabia.
Speaking to the media, Rahm insisted that despite his suspension, he still considers himself a PGA Tour member and wants to support the tour. However, Oberhalser did not hold back his anger during an interview on the Golf Channel.
Oberhalser criticized Rahm for his lack of understanding, stating that Rahm had sought a position or wanted to be heard on certain matters within the PGA Tour before joining LIV Golf. He expressed his relief that Rahm was not given the opportunity he sought, as he believes Rahm does not comprehend the situation.
Expressing his frustration, Oberhalser emphasized his loyalty to the PGA Tour and his disappointment with Rahm’s actions. He even went as far as saying he wanted to “wring his neck through the television” due to Rahm’s comments.
Despite the controversy surrounding him, Rahm is set to compete in the PGA Championship, hoping to bounce back from a disappointing performance at The Masters. He will tee off alongside Rickie Fowler and Cameron Young in the opening rounds of the tournament, scheduled to begin on Thursday at Valhalla Golf Club.
