Linda Klimovicova went out twice on Friday as part of the ITF World Tennis Tour for a $60,000 prize pool on hard courts in Calvi. In the quarter-finals, however, she did not manage to beat the lower-ranked Belgian Sofia Costoulas.
On Good Friday, Linda Klimovicova (WTA 201) first won Urszula Radwańska, thanks to which she checked in in 1/4 of the final (more here). After a few hours of break for the regular rest, the Polish woman joined another duel. This time, the Belgian Sofia Costoulas (WTA 260) was marked on her way.
The favorite of this meeting seemed to be placed with Klimovicov’s third number. However, the events went differently. The ladies spent an hour and 42 minutes on the central court. Costoulas enjoyed the 6:2, 7:6(5) victory and she will play in the semi-finals of the French tournament.

The start of the duel was not successful for Klimovicova. Our representative had huge problems and as a result lost the service three times. Thanks to this, the Belgian quickly advanced to 5:1 and calmly controlled the situation. In the eighth game, she developed three sets and immediately used the first.
The second game was initially more even. In the fourth game, Klimovicov wasted several break points, after which she lost a pass twice. Costoulas led as much as 5:2, but did not serve victory. She allowed Poland to return to the game, which is why the tie-break turned out to be decisive. In the game of this Klimovicova, she even went up to 5-3, but lost four more points.
Thus, our 20-year-old tennis player finished her performance in the competition in Corsica at the quarter-final stage. The same result was achieved in Calvi last year. This result will not allow Poland to return to the Top 200 WTA ranking. Nevertheless, she should be entitled to play in qualifying for the Roland Garros 2025 Grand Slam.
