Rafael Nadal, the 22-time Major winner, is fervently working on his comeback, much to the delight of his fans. A recent video showcasing his intense training sessions in Mallorca has ignited excitement among his supporters. After his unfortunate absence from the Australian Open, Nadal is gearing up to compete in Doha in just two weeks’ time, with aspirations of clinching his second crown in the desert and his first in a decade.
In the training footage, Nadal appears sharp and focused, delivering powerful strokes from the baseline. His primary objective is to compete without any injury setbacks, especially after enduring another setback in Brisbane earlier in the season. During the quarter-final match against Jordan Thompson, Nadal experienced a micro tear in the muscle surrounding his problematic left hip, despite putting up a valiant effort that stretched for three hours and 25 minutes, eventually losing the match and missing out on three match points in the second set.

Following the match, Nadal underwent an MRI check in Melbourne, leading him to make the difficult decision to skip the Australian Open, prioritizing his recovery and avoiding any further risks after missing an entire year of competition.
With his sights set on Doha, Nadal has opted to stay on hard courts instead of participating in clay tournaments in South America. His history in Doha dates back to 2005, with eight appearances up until 2016. Notably, he clinched the title in 2014, defeating Gael Monfils in the final, and reached another final in 2016, albeit suffering a heavy loss to world no. 1 Novak Djokovic.
Nadal’s journey back to full fitness has been marked by determination and persistence. Following surgery in June and a gradual recovery process, he made his comeback a few months later. Starting his 2024 campaign in Brisbane, Nadal displayed promising form, winning his first match against Dominic Thiem and advancing through the rounds. However, his quarter-final clash with Jordan Thompson ended in disappointment, as Nadal succumbed to a notable defeat after a grueling battle on the court.
Despite the setback, Nadal remains optimistic, focusing on his preparation for Doha and aiming for a successful and injury-free return to competitive tennis.
