Scottie Scheffler has made history by becoming the first player on the PGA Tour since Tiger Woods in 2006 to secure back-to-back victories following a major championship win. After triumphing at the RBC Heritage, Scheffler’s latest conquest came after a delayed Sunday, with his victory confirmed early on Monday. Finishing with a final round three-under-par 68, he concluded the tournament at an impressive 19-under.
Fresh off his Masters win, Scheffler maintained his momentum at Harbour Town. Despite starting the weekend three shots behind the lead, the 27-year-old surged ahead with a remarkable eight-under 63 in Saturday’s third round, solidifying his position as the player to beat heading into the final day.
Sunday saw Scheffler continue his dominance, starting strong with an eagle on his second hole, followed by a birdie on the fifth. With a comfortable lead, he maintained his composure, adding another birdie on the par-four 13th. Although a hiccup seemed imminent on the par-five 15th after finding the water, Scheffler demonstrated his resilience, salvaging par with a superb putt from 12 feet.
Despite a late bogey on the 18th, Scheffler’s lead remained unassailable as he clinched his fourth victory in five starts, solidifying his status as the world No. 1.
