Lucas Glover Praises Scottie Scheffler’s Humility Amidst Stellar 2024 Season
Scottie Scheffler has been the talk of the golf world in 2024, and according to PGA Tour veteran Lucas Glover, it’s not just his skill on the course that’s impressive. Glover recently highlighted Scheffler’s remarkable humility, despite his incredible achievements this year.
Scheffler, still only 28, has had a phenomenal 2024 season, capped by his victory at the Olympic Games in Paris, where he clinched the gold medal with a thrilling final round at Le Golf National. His win over England’s Tommy Fleetwood by a single stroke marked his seventh victory of the year.
Earlier in the season, Scheffler overcame a neck injury to win The Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass in March, followed by a second Masters victory just a month later. His momentum continued as he captured the RBC Heritage title a week after the Masters, won the Memorial Tournament just before the U.S. Open, and then triumphed at the Travelers Championship in a playoff. Although he finished tied for seventh at the final men’s major of the year in Scotland, his consistent performance has been nothing short of extraordinary.
Adding to his accolades, Scheffler recently secured the Comcast Business Top 10, earning him an $8 million bonus, even though he opted to skip this week’s Wyndham Championship at Sedgefield Country Club in North Carolina. This bonus pushed his total prize money for the year to a staggering $36,148,691, with two more $20 million purse events still on the horizon.
Beyond the prize money, Scheffler is also poised to earn substantial sums through the 2024 Player Impact Program and a FedEx Cup bonus. With such success, Glover notes that Scheffler could easily carry himself with an air of arrogance. However, the Texan remains grounded.
“He just shows up, does his job, keeps his head down,” Glover said when asked about what sets Scheffler apart. “I think it’s very impressive the way he handles himself with all the success. He seems very humble. That’s pretty cool, especially because he has every right to be the other way.”
Glover continued, “He could walk around with his nose up in the air if he wanted, and nobody would care because he’s that good. But he’s not. I think that’s really cool. It’s impressive to see how he handles himself and how he doesn’t take himself too seriously.”
Scheffler’s next challenge will be the first leg of the FedExCup Playoffs at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, scheduled for August 15-18 at TPC Southwind in Memphis, Tennessee. All eyes will be on the young star as he continues his remarkable journey through the 2024 season.
