Before becoming the world’s No. 1 ranked golfer, Dallas native Scottie Scheffler was a standout player for the University of Texas golf team. Excelling both on the course and in the classroom, Scheffler was a key member of UT’s top-ranked golf team. In 2016, he was named to the Academic All-Big 12 First Team, which requires a GPA of 3.2 to 4.0, though his exact GPA wasn’t specified. Scheffler, a finance major, earned this honor alongside teammates Gavin Hall and Taylor Funk.
During his four seasons with the Longhorns, Scheffler helped Texas win the Big 12 Championship three times and graduated in 2018 with a finance degree. In 2016, the same year he received Academic All-Big 12 First Team honors, the team finished as runner-up at the national championship.
Scheffler continued his impressive form in the 2024 season, securing a T2 finish at the Charles Schwab Challenge this past weekend.
