Scottie Scheffler’s extraordinary 2024 season has been capped off with a substantial financial reward from the PGA Tour, securing a bonus nearly double that of Rory McIlroy’s. Scheffler, who has dominated the tour this year, received a significant payout after topping the Comcast Business Tour Top 10 rankings, which serves as the PGA Tour’s regular season order of merit.
At just 28 years old, Scheffler has enjoyed a golden year, winning six times on the PGA Tour, including his second Masters title and a triumphant performance at the Olympics in Paris. His on-course earnings have soared to an impressive £22 million, and his latest bonus of £6.2 million further boosts his already substantial earnings. This reward comes as a result of his commanding lead in the season-long standings.
The financial windfall doesn’t stop here for Scheffler. With the FedEx Cup Playoffs still to come, he has even more opportunities to add to his earnings. The FedEx St. Jude Championship and BMW Championship each offer a £3.1 million prize for the winner, while the Tour Championship’s top prize is a staggering £19.6 million.
Reflecting on his achievement, Scheffler expressed his gratitude, saying, “It’s been an incredible year for me both on and off the course, so to finish up the regular season by earning the top spot in the Comcast Business Tour Top 10 is an honor. Every year I try to perform and compete to the best of my abilities, so this award really represents the hard work put in throughout the course of the season with the support of my family and team.”
Scheffler’s dominance in 2024 began in March with a decisive five-shot victory at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. He followed that up with a nerve-wracking win at The Players Championship, where he held steady as his competitors, including Xander Schauffele, Wyndham Clark, and Brian Harman, faltered under pressure.
Other players who performed well in the Comcast Business Tour Top 10 include Wyndham Clark, who finished fifth with a £3.1 million bonus, Ludvig Aberg in sixth with £2.7 million, and Sahith Theegala in seventh with £2.2 million. The top ten was rounded off by Hideki Matsuyama (£1.9 million), Sungjae Im (£1.7 million), and Shane Lowry (£1.6 million), all of whom earned significant payouts for their efforts.
Scheffler’s consistent excellence throughout the season has set him apart as the player to beat, and with the FedEx Cup Playoffs on the horizon, his remarkable year could become even more lucrative.
