Lt. Col Tom White, the newly appointed Private Secretary to the Princess of Wales, bears a striking resemblance to tennis legend Roger Federer, according to his father Garry. Speaking exclusively to MailOnline, Garry revealed that friends have often pointed out the similarity between his son and the 20-time Grand Slam champion since Federer rose to the top spot in 2004.
“Quite a few people have commented on it frequently,” remarked Garry, 66, from his home in Portsmouth, Hampshire. Despite the resemblance, Lt. Col White’s tennis skills fall short of Federer’s, as acknowledged by his father. “He has played tennis but not to the standard of Roger Federer. I wish he could play like him,” Garry admitted.
However, Lt. Col White’s talents extend beyond the tennis court. A former Royal Marine Commando, he brings a wealth of military expertise to his new role. Garry expressed pride in his son’s achievements, emphasizing his humble beginnings and dedication to his military career. “Ultimately, he is a Royal Marine Commando, and we are really proud of what he has achieved,” Garry stated.
While Lt. Col White may not discuss his royal duties openly, his passion for sports is evident through photos on social media. Alongside his 37-year-old wife Stephanie, the couple enjoys various activities, including a snowboarding holiday in Vermont, USA, captured in one of their shared photos.
In his new position as Private Secretary to the Princess of Wales, Lt. Col White’s blend of military experience and personal interests is expected to be an asset, ensuring effective support for the royal household.
