Początek trzeciego seta nie ułożył się po myśli Polaka. Dość stwierdzić, że na 13 pierwszych akcji wygrał tylko jedną, co oznaczało, że Hiszpan uciekł na 3:0 z przewagą przełamania. W czwartym gemie Hurkacz przerwał co prawda serię rywala, ale w kolejnych górą również byli podający. To sprawiło, że Alcaraz wygrał 6:3 i zameldował się w finale w Rotterdamie, w którym o tytuł powalczy z Australijczykiem Alexem de Minaurem.
