A proud father is making a triumphant return to the golf course after celebrating the birth of his son, Bear. While the world’s number one player, Scottie Scheffler, is absent from the Wells Fargo Championship to await the arrival of his first child with wife Meredith, Burns is back in action at Quail Hollow, having welcomed his son into the world on April 22.
During a nine-hole pro-am in Charlotte, Burns happily confirmed the birth of Bear, jokingly mentioning that the unique name was mostly his idea. He and his wife, Caroline, both agreed on the name, aiming for something a bit different. Fortunately, both mother and baby are doing well and resting comfortably at home.
However, as any new parent can attest to, adjusting to parenthood comes with its challenges, especially navigating the ever-changing sleep patterns of a newborn. Burns admitted to catching only a few hours of sleep here and there, leading to some tired mornings.
Despite the whirlwind of parenthood, Burns is back to work this week, although he confessed to not doing much practice immediately after the birth. However, he managed to get his hands back on a club in preparation for this week’s tournament.
Burns hopes to regain his form after a slight dip in performance following a string of four consecutive top-10 finishes earlier in the year. With his best result in his last five starts being a T30 finish at Bay Hill, Burns is eager to make his mark at the no-cut event.
Although his past performance at Quail Hollow hasn’t been stellar, with missed cuts and withdrawals in recent years, Burns is focused on the task at hand. Unlike previous tournaments where the possibility of withdrawal loomed due to the pending birth of his son, Burns is fully committed to his game this week.
As bettors and fantasy users analyze their options, they can rest assured that Burns will be giving his all on the course, even if he sneaks in a nap or two between rounds.
