Tiger Woods recently reunited with his former wife, Elin Nordegren, as the two proudly supported their son, Charlie, at a high school golf tournament in Miami. Although Woods and Nordegren divorced in 2010 following six years of marriage, they continue to co-parent their two children, Sam and Charlie, maintaining a strong presence at their children’s key moments. This week, they were seen cheering on 14-year-old Charlie as he competed for The Benjamin School in the Class 1A Region 4 golf tournament.
According to The Palm Beach Post, Charlie and his team fought hard in difficult conditions, finishing just four strokes behind their top competitors, Fort Lauderdale Pine Crest. Tiger followed Charlie’s progress around the course from a cart, offering minimal advice so that his son could focus. “He’s tough on himself,” noted Benjamin coach Toby Harbeck. “If he could just relax and play, store some of that energy, it’s good. He’s just young. He’s got a lot of Dad in him.”
This year, Tiger Woods, 48, has been selective with his own playing schedule as he continues to manage ongoing fitness issues. The last tournament he played was The Open Championship at Royal Troon in July, where he missed the cut in challenging conditions on Scotland’s coast. Woods’s brief presence at Royal Troon marked only his fifth tournament of the season, as he balances part-time competition with time off for recovery.
Woods’s 2024 season included appearances in all four majors, though it wasn’t his strongest year on the course. Despite his impressive career as a 15-time major champion, Woods managed to make the cut only once, at the Masters in April. Unfortunately, he fell short of the weekend at the other three majors—the PGA Championship, U.S. Open, and The Open. Apart from these appearances, he only competed in one additional tournament, the Genesis Invitational in February, where he served as host. However, his run was cut short after he withdrew in the second round due to illness.
Despite the light schedule, Woods remains committed to a return to the PGA Tour before year’s end. He’s set to play in the Hero World Challenge, an event he hosts in the Bahamas, which is scheduled for early December. His return is highly anticipated, as he balances his duties as host with his participation in the event. Woods also confirmed that he will team up with Charlie for the PNC Championship, a celebrated parent-child tournament. “I’m not going to play until [The Hero],” he shared after the Open in July. “I’m just going to keep getting physically better. Hopefully, just come back for our, our fifth major, the Father-Son [PNC Championship].”
The Woods family reunion at Charlie’s high school tournament demonstrates their commitment to family, even as Tiger continues to navigate his own competitive journey in golf.
