Tiger Woods appears poised to continue his partnership with experienced caddie Lance Bennett at The Masters next week. Following his withdrawal from the Genesis Invitational in February due to illness, Woods announced the hiring of Bennett, the former caddie of Sunjae Im and Matt Kuchar. This reunion will mark the first time Woods has had the same caddie in consecutive events since parting ways with longtime caddie Joe LaCava after the 2023 Masters.
Since then, Woods has participated in only three events, with business partner Rob McNamara and his daughter, Sam, stepping in as caddies at the Hero World Challenge and PNC Championship, respectively. Reflecting on his decision to work with Bennett, Woods emphasized their long-standing personal history and shared understanding of the game, citing their previous collaborations at events like the Presidents Cup.
“In all the years that we’ve been on Ryder Cups and Presidents Cups together and the times I’ve been able to play with him in the same groups, very down to earth, very loyal and how he conversated through the years, I’ve also taken notice of that,” Woods remarked. “We’ve had the same type of feels in how we look at the golf course and how we read putts, they’re very similar. I think we’re going to be a great team and look forward to the challenge.”
With Woods gearing up for his return to competition at Augusta National, all eyes will be on the dynamic duo of Woods and Bennett as they tackle one of golf’s most prestigious events.
