Tiger Woods, the renowned 15-time major champion, is set to make his next competitive appearance at the Seminole Pro-Am on Monday, March 4. This prestigious event in Florida will see Woods tee off alongside notable figures such as Rory McIlroy, Justin Thomas, Tony Finau, Collin Morikawa, Cameron Young, and Nelly Korda, as well as sports icon Tom Brady.
Scheduled to begin his round at 7:47 am ET, Woods will partner with PGA of America CEO Seth Waugh, Thomas, and Mike Walrath. This marks Woods’ inaugural participation in the tournament, adding an extra layer of anticipation to the event.
Meanwhile, McIlroy will be playing alongside his father Gerry, three-time major champion Padraig Harrington, and PGA Tour chairman Ed Herlihy, with their tee time set for 8:32 am ET.
Interestingly, no LIV Golf players have received invitations to partake in the tournament, potentially signaling a divide in the golfing landscape.
Beyond the competition, the Seminole Pro-Am presents an opportune setting for discussions among players like Woods and McIlroy regarding recent developments in the PGA Tour. With Strategic Sports Group’s significant $3 billion investment and ongoing negotiations surrounding the framework agreement between the PGA Tour and the PIF, there’s much to consider within the golfing community.
Woods’ recent withdrawal from the Genesis Invitational due to illness has left his upcoming schedule uncertain. It remains unclear whether he will choose to compete in the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill or The Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass in the subsequent weeks. However, with The Masters looming from April 11-14, Woods will undoubtedly seek to fine-tune his game with at least one tournament appearance beforehand.
