Tiger Woods expressed immense joy at the “special” experience of competing in the PNC Championship alongside his 14-year-old son, Charlie. The father-son duo finished tied for fifth after a remarkable round of 61 in Orlando, concluding the tournament at 19 under par. Although they fell six shots short of the winners, Bernhard Langer and his son Jason, the Woods family left a lasting impression.
Even with his recent return to competitive play following ankle surgery, Tiger cherished the moments on the course with both of his children. Daughter Sam served as his caddy, adding to the family affair. Charlie’s standout performance included a memorable chip-in on the ninth hole, creating a highlight for the Woods team.
Reflecting on the experience, Tiger shared, “To have both my kids out there the last two days has been so special.” Despite some physical discomfort beyond his ankle, Woods appreciated the opportunity to shake off rust and dispel doubts about his game. He noted, “It’s been nice to knock off a lot of the rust and some of the doubt that I’ve had because quite frankly I haven’t hit a shot that counted in a long time.”
The PNC Championship also featured Padraig Harrington, a three-time major winner, who competed alongside his son Ciaran. The Harrington duo finished in a respectable tie for 19th place at seven under par after a solid second-round performance, contributing to the overall excitement of the tournament.
