Tiger Woods has participated in four events during the 2024 PGA Tour season. His first match of the year was at the Genesis Invitational, where he withdrew after scoring two shots over par.
The golf legend’s last three matches were all majors: The Masters, the U.S. Open, and the PGA Championship. The 48-year-old Woods earned a $44,000 purse from The Masters but missed the final cut in both the PGA Championship and the U.S. Open.
Many expected Woods to be the captain of the U.S. Ryder Cup team, but he has clarified that his focus is currently on the PGA Tour.
The Ryder Cup, organized by the PGA of America and Ryder Cup Europe, features top golfers from the U.S. and Europe. The next match is scheduled for September 26-28, 2025.
Tiger Woods recently created a buzz in the golf world by declining the opportunity to captain the U.S. Ryder Cup team in 2025. Following the announcement that Keegan Bradley would be the captain, Woods explained his decision.
“With my new responsibilities to the Tour and the time commitments involved, I felt like I would not be able to commit the time to Team USA and the players required as a captain,” Woods said. “That does not mean I wouldn’t want to captain a team in the future. If and when I feel it is the right time, I will put my hat in the ring for this committee to decide.”
