Professional golfer Max Homa recently reflected on the “dream” experience of playing alongside Tiger Woods during the first two days of the Masters. Recalling his rounds, Homa emphasized the profound impact of being immersed in the aura of Tiger’s presence, stating, “a lot of Tiger stuff.”
Now, Homa is poised to extend those memorable moments into the future.
Homa has officially joined Woods’ team at Jupiter Links Golf Club in TGL, an interactive golf league spearheaded by Woods and Rory McIlroy. The four-man lineup was unveiled recently, comprising Homa, Tom Kim, and Kevin Kisner alongside Woods himself.
“TGL, backed by TMRW Sports, is gearing up for its inaugural season set to commence on January 7th. The league will be hosted in Palm Beach Gardens, with a purpose-built venue underway at Palm Beach State College’s campus.
Ranked No. 9 globally, Homa stands among the top 10 golfers slated to compete in TGL. Reflecting on his admiration for Woods, Homa reminisced about witnessing Woods’ historic achievements at Augusta, including his record-breaking 24 consecutive Masters cuts. Despite Woods encountering challenges during the weekend rounds, Homa managed to secure his best-ever major finish, tying for third place.
“Tiger’s journey has been a significant inspiration throughout my golfing career,” shared Homa, who boasts six PGA Tour victories. “From witnessing his triumph at the 1997 Masters to now playing alongside him, it’s truly an amazing experience.”
Expressing excitement about teaming up with Woods, Tom, and Kevin, Homa acknowledged TGL’s role in facilitating this unique opportunity to compete alongside some of the sport’s finest talents while bringing an innovative format to golf enthusiasts, particularly in South Florida.
Meanwhile, South Korean sensation Tom Kim, aged 21 and ranked No. 23 globally, expressed his delight at being mentored by Woods, a figure he has long admired. With three PGA Tour wins and a slew of international victories, Kim’s burgeoning talent adds depth to the team.
Kisner, aged 40, brings his wealth of experience with four PGA Tour victories, including recent encounters with Woods at the 2022 Masters.
“TGL offers a distinctive blend of elite golf and entertainment, with its prime-time TV coverage, shot clock, and player mics amplifying the excitement,” remarked Woods. “Kiz’s prowess on the course coupled with his charismatic persona will undoubtedly enhance the TGL experience.”
Kisner echoed Woods’ sentiments, emphasizing the team’s balance of camaraderie and competitiveness, ensuring a thrilling season ahead.
With all six TGL teams finalizing their rosters, anticipation mounts for the league’s debut, promising an exhilarating fusion of golfing excellence and entertainment.
