Tiger Woods is set to make his much-anticipated return to the PGA TOUR at The Genesis Invitational, and the tee times for the first two rounds have been unveiled. The golfing legend will enjoy the company of close friends Justin Thomas and Gary Woodland as they tee off together at The Riviera Country Club.
Their first round will commence at 9:25 a.m. local time on Thursday, followed by a Friday tee-off at 11:54 a.m., both starting from the first hole. Woods, who last competed at the Hero World Challenge in December, finishing 18th, and withdrew from the 2023 Masters due to an ankle issue, seems ready to make his comeback after undergoing ankle fusion surgery last spring.
In preparation for his return, Woods unveiled his new clothing line, “Sun Day Red,” on Monday night, before hitting the course for a nine-hole practice round on Tuesday morning. Despite concerns about his ankle, Woods appeared unfazed as he navigated the back nine at Riviera, wearing his signature Sun Day Red apparel.
During Tuesday’s practice round, Woods tested a new TaylorMade Qi10 3-wood and engaged in conversations with his team members and Thomas. The duo will have more opportunities to chat on the course once the tournament kicks off on Thursday.
Aside from Woods’ highly-anticipated return, other notable pairings for the first two rounds of The Genesis Invitational include Jordan Spieth, Tom Kim, and Patrick Cantlay; Nick Taylor, Viktor Hovland, and Sam Burns; Collin Morikawa, Matt Fitzpatrick, and Scottie Scheffler; as well as Wyndham Clark, Rory McIlroy, and Max Homa. With such exciting pairings and the return of Woods, golf fans have much to look forward to at this year’s tournament.
