**Tiger Woods Withdraws from The Genesis Invitational Due to Illness**
In a disappointing turn of events, Tiger Woods has withdrawn from the second round of The Genesis Invitational at Riviera Country Club, citing illness. This marked Woods’ eagerly awaited return to the PGA TOUR, his first official event since the 2023 Masters. However, Woods’ comeback was marred by health issues as he battled back spasms during the first round, ultimately finishing with a score of 72 on Thursday.
Woods explained that his back troubles flared up during his play on Thursday, particularly affecting his eight-iron shot on the par-four 18th. “My back spasmed on it,” he revealed. “It had been spasming over the last three holes and it just locked up on me and didn’t move, didn’t rotate.”
Despite his efforts, Woods’ condition did not improve during the second round on Friday. After completing six holes and carding 1-over, Woods faced another setback as he prepared to tee off on the par-4 seventh hole. He was subsequently escorted back to the locker room on a cart, signaling an early end to his much-anticipated return.
The premature conclusion to Woods’ comeback left fans disheartened, with many expressing their concern and disappointment on social media platforms. Supporters voiced hopes that Woods’ withdrawal was due solely to continued back spasms rather than a more serious issue. Nevertheless, the somber tone surrounding Woods’ departure cast a shadow over the tournament, prompting an outpouring of reactions from fans worldwide.
