Tiger Woods and his 14-year-old son, Charlie, wrapped up the PNC Championship with a tied-fifth finish, as Bernhard Langer and his son secured a two-shot victory in Florida. The Woods duo impressed on the final day, carding an 11-under 61 at the Ritz-Carlton Club, showcasing a combination of an eagle and nine birdies.
In their fourth appearance in the 20-team field, where major or Players Championship winners play alongside family members, Team Woods found themselves six strokes behind the triumphant Team Langer. Tiger and Charlie capitalized on opportunities, with Charlie’s notable drive at the 355-yard seventh, followed by a chip-in birdie at the ninth.
With Tiger’s 16-year-old daughter, Sam, serving as their caddie, the Woods pair continued their strong performance on the back nine, notching five consecutive birdies from the 13th hole. The memorable week concluded with another birdie at the par-five last.
Reflecting on the experience, Tiger Woods expressed gratitude for sharing the course with his children, emphasizing the special moments created. Langer and his son Jason clinched the title with a final-round 59, securing a record-equalling fifth win for Bernhard in the PNC Championship.
Langer’s impressive history in the event includes back-to-back victories with son Stefan in 2005 and 2006, as well as partnering with Jason for wins in 2014 and 2019. Their latest success places Langer alongside Raymond Floyd as the only five-time winners of the prestigious event.
Team Duval finished two strokes behind the champions, while defending champions Team Singh claimed third place. Team Goosen secured fourth position on the leaderboard, with Team Woods sharing fifth place alongside Team Lehman, Team Cink, Team Daly, and overnight leaders Team Kuchar.
Team Kuchar, led by Matt Kuchar and son Cameron, started strongly with a 57 on the opening day but posted a four-under 68 on Sunday. The PNC Championship showcased the unique blend of family ties and golf prowess, making it a memorable event for participants and fans alike.
