South Korean golfer Tom Kim recently faced off against the world’s top-ranked golfer, Scottie Scheffler, in a playoff at the Travelers Championship. After exchanging some friendly words on the course, Kim shared their interaction. “I told him as soon as we hit the tee shot in the playoff, ‘Hey, we’re just at home, but we just have 100,000 people on the golf course,'” Kim recounted, as quoted by the PGA Tour on X.
Both players finished the initial round tied at 22-under, leading to a playoff where Scheffler narrowly defeated Kim by one stroke, securing his sixth PGA Tour victory of the season. Despite the competition, the two share a close bond. Kim, who is quickly rising in the golf world at just 22 years old, speaks highly of his relationship with Scheffler. “He’s a really good friend. I’ve learned a lot from him, obviously… I’m really happy for him… I’ve gotten to like Scottie more as a person than a golfer, so I think that’s really big,” Kim stated.
