Scottie Scheffler, the world’s No. 1 golfer and Masters champion, will participate in the Memorial Tournament, as confirmed by tournament organizers. Scheffler, 27, has been the dominant force on the PGA Tour over the past three seasons, securing four victories in 2022, two in 2023, and four so far in 2024.
Recently, Scheffler made headlines for his arrest during the PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville. According to police reports, he attempted to drive around the scene of a deadly accident near the course. Scheffler faces charges of felony second-degree assault on a police officer, third-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving, and disregarding signals from officers directing traffic, as per Jefferson County court records. Louisville Police released new video footage of the arrest on Thursday.
The Memorial Tournament has also announced commitments from several other notable golfers, including U.S. Open champion Wyndham Clark, six-time PGA Tour winner Max Homa, fan favorite Rickie Fowler, and rising star Will Zalatoris. Practice rounds for the Memorial will commence on Monday, June 3, with the tournament scheduled to run from June 6-9.
