Former President Donald Trump announced on his Truth Social platform that a LIV Golf event is set to take place at his Trump National Doral in Miami in April. While Trump didn’t specify the exact date, it aligns with the only opening on LIV’s schedule from April 5-7, just before the Masters.
Although Trump claimed the deal was sealed, LIV Golf has yet to confirm the agreement. Trump expressed enthusiasm, noting the success of the previous LIV Golf event held at Doral in October.
Notably, Trump’s golf courses were absent from the 2024 LIV Golf schedule, a move believed to avoid conflicts during an election year as Trump campaigns for a return to the presidency.
Doral, known as the “Blue Monster” in golf, has a rich history as a PGA Tour staple during the Florida swing and was once considered the starting point on the road to the Masters. The course had been the season-ending event for LIV Golf in 2022 and 2023.
While Doral makes a return to the LIV Golf schedule, Trump National in Bedminster, New Jersey, was utilized by LIV in the past two years, and this season featured a stop at his northern Virginia course. LIV also ventured to Orlando, Florida, a week before the Masters in the current year.
Adding to the intrigue, LIV Golf recently signed Masters champion Jon Rahm, sparking attention amid ongoing negotiations for a commercial partnership between the PGA Tour and LIV, which were announced in June and involve the Saudi Arabian backers of LIV.
